A 2nd generation family business
Dr. Juhani Aho founded medical center Aava’s predecessor in 1964 with his wife Eila Aho and two of their friends. In 1972 Juhani bought Ruka, a bankrupt skiing center in Kuusamo, Finland, even though he had no experience of the skiing business. A decade later another ill-faring skiing center Pyhä joined the growing group of Aho companies.
Since then the companies have gone through a formidable period of growth. Today the companies are run by Juhani’s five children Kari Jussi Aho, Miia Porkkala, Annakaija Lappalainen, Antti Aho and Ville Aho. The companies have a total turnover of over 200 million euros and employ more than 1000 people altogether.
About our values
Our way of doing business is strongly value-driven. Companies under the Aho Group umbrella function independentely but share a common set of values: brave and joyful entrepreneurship, long-term thinking, and sustainability.
